It is Pumpkin Time
Pumpkins are being harvested and are surrounding the buckboard wagon – BIG ones, medium ones and small ones, including sugar pumpkins. Swan and small Gourds are available, along with bundles of cornstalks for that great fall look around the home. And Mums provide that added touch of beautiful color.
Mums the Word
Fall temperatures are finally here and with that come Chrysanthemums for outdoor as well as indoor decorating. We have yellow, red, lavender, white, orange and pink. Some blooming now and others blooming soon. Pick beautiful mums from our buckboard display (Nala not included) or from the field.
Time to Preserve Produce for Delicious Winter Meals
this is a great time to can and freeze produce for those delicious winter meals. Raspberries and blueberries can be easily frozen for eating, for smoothies or used in your favorite recipe.
Our Herb Garden has many herbs – basils, mints, lavendar, parsley and more – that can be dried or frozen for later use.
The vegetable fields are producing new crops of broccoli, purple and green kale, butterhead lettuce, spinach, squash, peppers, eggplant colored carrots, beets, onions (red, yellow and white) – many of these can be processed for use later. Red and white potatoes have been harvested while Sweet potatoes will be harvested soon. Tomatoes are plentiful in both cherry and regular. Thoughts of delicious sauces, salsa, pizza with many of the vegetables as toppers are making me hungry.

To top that off, our blueberries just won’t give up and the plants are loaded with lots of big juicy berries.
Cornstalks add that simple touch of fall. Bundled stalks will be available beginning this Saturday. And the finishing touch to fall decorating – pumpkins. Soon our small. medium and huge pumpkins will be orange and ready to take home.
With Labor Day weekend come cookouts, fun get-togethers and relaxation. We have all of your vegetable needs including sweet corn; salad ingredients: lettuce, tomatoes, beets, peppers, onions, cucumbers, squash, carrots, many herbs and 2 salad dressings – our own Raspberry Wine Vinegar and Purple Basil Vinegar; plus red and white potatoes, turnips, kale and for desert – watermelon.
